Meet Jonathan M P Howat
Cranio Fascial Dynamics Practitioner Oxford D.C., D.I.C.S., F.I.C.S., F.C.C. (Cranio),
F.C.C. (Paeds), F.E.U.C. (Craniopathy), F.B.C.A
Jonathan graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, USA in 1970, then returned to his home of Rhodesia, to practise with his father, David Howat, a Palmer graduate of 1938.
Understanding the Power of S.O.T. Chiropractic
In 1975 Jonathan attended his first Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) seminar in England. This exposure to SOT as a “method of chiropractic” was an enlightening experience and provoked him to investigate further the work of DeJarnette (Chiropractor), the founder and developer of SOT. As a result of political upheaval in Zimbabwe Jonathan and his family emigrated to England in 1985 and took over the Oxford Chiropractic Clinic (OCC) in Headington, Oxford.
From Oxford Chiropractic Clinic, Jonathan started teaching (SOT) and formed SOTO Europe, a postgraduate teaching organisation for chiropractors, which is now in the UK and Europe.
Going Beyond Spinal Adjustments
In 2006 Jonathan began the development of Cranio Fascial Dynamics (CFD). In 2019 Jonathan formed The Howat Protocols of Cranio Fascial Dynamics (HPCFD), to teach chiropractors about the intricacies of brain congestion and underlying neurological problems that ensue as a result of head trauma and whiplash. His research and development of this work has led to the following book being published in conjunction with the lectures presented globally:
- Cranio Vascular Dynamics
- Cranio Dental Dynamics
- Internal Cranial Dynamics
- Chiropractic – The Anatomy and Physiology of Sacro Occipital Technique – 1999
- Chiropractic – Cranio Fascial Dynamics – 2009
- The Dislocated Brain: A New Perspective
Award Winning Care
In 1990, Jonathan was awarded Chiropractor of the year by the Sacro Occipital Research Society International (SORSI) in recognition for services to the profession and in 1999 he received the Chiropractic Literary Award. In 2015 he was recognized for his work in SOTO Europe and awarded Chiropractor of the Year.
Jonathan is a diplomate of Craniopathy, a Fellow of the International Craniopathic Society, a Fellow in both the Cranial and Paediatric Faculties of the College of Chiropractic, Fellow of the European Academy of Chiropractic (Craniopathy) and Fellow of the British Chiropractic Association. In 2008 he was elected as an Ambassador for the Palmer College of Chiropractic — Global Development.’
